Paul holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Commerce degree majoring in Valuation and Farm Management from Lincoln University, serves as a Senior Member of the Property Institute of New Zealand.
After completing a Batchelor’s degree in Agricultural Commerce (Valuation & Farm Management) at Lincoln University in 1980 Paul started work in Ashburton as a Rural Bank Farm Appraiser from 1981 until 1983. In recent years Paul has been a major share holder and company principal of Hastings McLeod Ltd (now branded Property Brokers Southisland). The Company has a head office in Ashburtion with another 8 offices: Oamaru, Waimate, Timaru, Geraldine, Rangiora, Hokitika, Greymouth and Westport. The Company provides Residential, Rural, Commercial sales and Property Management services.
An associate company employs three Registered Valuers including Paul (Cunneen McLeod Valuation). The real estate company employs 90 people, 10 of which are rural sales consultants.
Paul has been a very successful rural real estate agent. Consistently in the top 5 rural agents South Island wide, he has been involved in over 900 sales in 30 years. As part of strong rural team, the company has had a significant role in the intensification and change of land use throughout Canterbury, South Canterbury and North Otago. In 2014 the Ashburton Office was adjudged Top Rural Sales Office in New Zealand at the REINZ Awards Ceremony.
Paul has been an invited speaker at a number of farm conventions including South Island Dairy Conference, Large Herds Conference, ASB Sheep & Beef Conference, NZ Realtors Rural Conferences, Lincoln University B.Ag.Com classes, and has also been involved at ground level with on farm with dairy discussion groups. Paul has also been a key note speaker at a number of real estate conferences throughout New Zealand.
Significant clients include Meridian Energy, Max Duncan (and Tasman Agriculture), Farm Right, Dairy Holdings Ltd, Alan Pye, Apple Fields, Dairy Brands, Spectrum Group, Rangitata Dairies Ltd, Canterbury Pastoral, Simplot and Howard Patterson. In his spare time Paul enjoys travelling, is a keen scuba diver, fisherman, thoroughbred breeder and racing enthusiast, passionate rugby spectator and plays tennis and squash regularly. Paul has four daughters who are keen sports-women enjoying netball, Rugby tennis and horse riding.
